THE EARTH (Early Childhood)
Environmental science and geology are complex sciences, but children can still get acquainted with the basics. With this in mind, The Earth provides many hands-on experiences with the oceans and landmasses that make up our planet. Activities designed to help children understand how the Earth is formed, how mountain ranges form, what the Earth looks like under the oceans, and what animals live in the different areas of the oceans and landmasses will help children understand that we are all part of nature. After working through The Earth, children will be prepared to understand the water cycle and other environmental concepts that are introduced in later grades.

CREEPY CRAWLIES (Early Childhood)
Many children--and adults--perceive crawling animals, such as insects and spiders, negatively, largely because they don't understand what these creatures do for us. With this in mind, Creepy Crawlies explains some of the different types of arthropods (animals whose limbs have joints and whose skeletons are on the outsides of their bodies) and earthworms. The word arthropod means "jointed limb" and was first used over 140 years ago. Arthropods include crustaceans (such as crabs, lobsters, and pill bugs), myriapods (centipedes and millipedes), arachnids (spiders), and insects. They are found all over the world. To date, 1.3 million species of arthropods have been identified, but scientists believe that as many as 30 million species may exist.
